FFL transfers

Bought a firearm online? Federal law says it has to ship to a licensed dealer, not to your door. That's what we're here for — $30 a gun, handled properly, no waiting around.

What a transfer is

The legal step between the seller and you

When you buy a firearm from an out-of-state seller — GunBroker, an online retailer, a private party across state lines — it can't be shipped to your house. It has to go to a Federal Firearms Licensee, who receives it, logs it, runs your background check, and hands it over legally.

That's a transfer. It isn't complicated, but it does have to be done exactly right, and the paperwork lives with the dealer for a long time afterward. We do it here, correctly, every time.

What it costs

$30 per firearm, plus a one-time $10 when there's more than one firearm on the same transfer. That's the whole fee — no separate paperwork charge, no handling fee discovered at pickup.

What you need to bring

  • A valid government-issued photo ID with your current address
  • Whatever your state requires for the purchase you're making
  • Time for the background check, which is usually quick but not always

Bring it all the first time and most pickups take a few minutes.

Need our FFL sent to a seller? Call or message and we'll get it to them the same day.

How it works

Five steps, start to finish

1

Tell us it's coming

Before you buy, or right after — call or send a message. It takes thirty seconds and it prevents a package showing up unannounced.

2

We send our license to the seller

Most sellers won't ship until they have a copy of our FFL on file. We handle that directly with them, same day.

3

It ships to us

The seller sends it here. Your part is done until it lands.

4

We call you the day it arrives

Not a week later. You'll know as soon as it's logged in.

5

Come in and pick it up

Photo ID, the background check, the paperwork, and you're out the door with your firearm.

Common questions

Transfer questions

Can you receive from any seller?

Effectively yes — any licensed dealer or FFL-holding seller can ship to us. If a seller has an unusual requirement, call and we'll sort it out with them directly.

What if the background check is delayed?

It happens, and it isn't a judgment about you. The firearm stays here securely until the check clears and we'll keep you posted.

Do you charge more for handguns?

No. $30 a firearm regardless of what it is.

Can I have multiple guns shipped at once?

Yes, and it's cheaper — $30 each plus a single $10 for the multi-firearm transfer, rather than repeating the whole process.

What happens if I never pick it up?

Call us. Firearms left indefinitely become a problem for both of us, and there are legal limits on how long a dealer can hold one. We'd much rather work something out than let it get there.

Have something shipping in?

Give us a heads-up and we'll send our license to the seller today. Most transfers are moving within a day of the call.
